Abstract

Shift-left testing has been one of the most talked-about terms for agile testing in software projects. It has become an integral part of software testing and DevOps since it helps test the code more often at the early stages of product development. Earlier, the testing stage only came into play on the far right of the development cycle, resulting in the software's late deployment.

With shift-left testing approach, a methodology of shipping the product faster than usual with minimum errors, organizations can decrease the intervening period between building and deploying a product from years to hours and eventually minutes. This methodology relies heavily upon the actual user experience rather than massive research, planning, and speculations.

In simple words, Shift-left testing is an approach of shifting tasks to the left as early in the development cycle, allowing developers to find errors in the initial stage.

To realize the true potential of Shift-left testing in the test automation world, LambdaTest conducted an insightful webinar in association with Patrick Walsh, an experienced shift-left practitioner who successfully led shift-left and DevOps practices in his organization. With his well-planned strategies, he has helped organizations move from manual to 70% automation testing in no time. Harshit Paul, Product and Growth Manager at LambdaTest, joined him to discuss the shift-left testing approach and performing automation testing at scale with LambdaTest.

The webinar started with Patrick explaining the importance of shift-left testing and how it came into the picture. Along with this, he also highlighted the necessity of shift-left testing for agile projects and did a detailed walkthrough of the shift-left testing pyramid. Not only this, Patrick provided us with some valuable nuggets revolving around its best practices, how far left is good enough to maximize the benefits, how enterprises can catalyze the shift from the traditional testing approach, and much more!

After this, Harshit Paul introduced the LambdaTest platform and gave a quick run-through of how users can efficiently perform Selenium automation testing and Cypress Testing with just a few clicks and leverage the platform features to make their testing much more effortless. In addition, he explains the third-party integrations LambdaTest supports, viewing automation test logs, etc.

In the end, we held a Q&A session.

If you missed our webinar, you could find the complete recording on the LambdaTest Youtube channel.
