LAMBDATESTToday's development methodologies demand the speedy release of new, bug-free software versions. To achieve this they must use careful and thorough testing that provides valuable feedback as early as possible. This is why Selenium testing is integral to today's development practices.
Selenium is an open-source test automation framework used by software developers and testers to automate the testing of web applications across multiple browsers and operating systems. Tests created using Selenium can be run in any programming language that the developer or tester is comfortable using. Selenium offers compatibility with multiple programming languages, including Java, JavaScript, Python, C#, and more.
In this episode of Voices of Community, Simon Stewart, Creator, Selenium WebDriver, has teamed up with Manoj Kumar, VP of Developer Relations at LambdaTest, to discuss the history of the Selenium project, the valuable lessons he learned, and its future.
Simon kicks off the session by discussing the origin of Selenium and the lessons he learned by working with open source. He takes the viewers on a journey of how Selenium came into the picture and the birth of WebDriver.
Simon also discusses how performing Selenium tests on a cross browser testing platform like LambdaTest can help deal with debugging protocols that were never designed for browser automation. He adds that platforms like LambdaTest allow your test to run locally, accessing necessary resources on your machine or corporate network while still allowing you to use a browser remotely.
Simon ends the webinar by discussing the future of Selenium. He gives a glimpse into what the Selenium team is currently working together on, a new tool called Selenium Manager to handle the complexity of juggling the various browsers and driver versions.
The webinar ended with a Q&A session.
