‘AI’levating Tester Experience

About the Talk

Organizations are gung-ho about the innovative possibilities GenAI brings to the table, especially in the IT space. An area largely considered a low hanging fruit to start one’s GenAI journey is software development. Tools such as GitHub Co- pilot for instance have the potential to completely disrupt and commoditise the code generation process. This will also lead to an explosion in the rate at which code is generated per sprint/ release, elevating the role of the tester higher than ever. With Disruptive tech such as GenAI having an extremely low margin for implementation error, Tester productivity and effectiveness would need to be at an all-time high. How can we ensure that? Elevating Tester Experience! This single factor could dictate the successful implementation of such technologies.

However, IT environments are complex, and processes are less than ideal. Testers end up spending almost 50% of their time in a day on project critical activities; the remaining time is spent on supplementary/ operational ones, proving to be a huge experience dampener. The solution? GenAI itself. By virtue of our role and its criticality to IT eco- systems, far from replacing the role of a tester, GenAI would serve as an effective assistant.

It is my firm belief that we, Testers, will help organizations across the globe answer the question, “What are we doing right with Gen AI?”

During my session, I intend to bring out the collective experience of 30K+ testing professionals of my unit to highlight:

Key Takeaways:

  • What are the cognitive factors and associated STLC tasks which influence Tester Experience?
  • Which value added activities could Gen AI enhance, and which productivity dampeners it could eliminate?
  • With Gen AI freeing up time, what could a typical ‘day in the life’ for a Tester look like in the future?
