In this presentation, we will dive into the AWS team’s comprehensive approach to test coverage, combining hybrid UI and API testing along with the practice of synthetic canary testing. We understand the challenges of balancing test coverage and efficiency, and we have devised a methodology that addresses this complexity while ensuring the highest level of quality. We will discuss practical techniques and frameworks utilized by AWS teams to seamlessly integrate both UI and API testing, achieving enhanced coverage across the software stack. Furthermore, we will show case the practice of synthetic canary testing, where real-world scenarios are tested in production to provide coverage of operational excellence (OE) metrics. By simulating production traffic and comparing results against established baselines, we can proactively detect anomalies and potential issues, ensuring the reliability and scalability of our systems.
