Expanding the Horizon of Innovation in Testing

Over the past two decades, the testing process and technology have undergone significant evolution. However, the notion of innovation in testing has primarily been associated with test automation. Recently, AI-driven testing has gained popularity. But is innovation in testing confined solely to automation or AI driven testing? Sometimes, the most valuable ideas originate outside the industry. Can we draw inspiration from how other disciplines and practices have revolutionized their services and products? Can we extract and apply their underlying principles to testing? This presentation aims to provoke reflection by exploring how we can redefine, redesign, and reposition testing to benefit all stakeholders. By examining the challenges encountered in modern software delivery and leveraging the principles of innovation extracted from diverse fields, we can envision a future of testing which brings added value to all involved.

Key Takeaways

  • Understanding both the implicit and explicit challenges facing modern software delivery and how generic innovation principles can be applied to bring about a win-win for all - opening new career pathways for practitioners, creating business value for customers, and generating new revenue streams for tool and service providers.
