What Is Web Proxy Enabled

Web proxy enabled refers to the functionality of a web proxy server that acts as an intermediary between a user's device and the internet. This setup allows for secure and controlled data exchange, enhancing privacy and security during web browsing.

How Web Proxies Work

  • User Request: Website access occurs over web proxies which accept the requests of users instead of allowing users to directly connect to web servers.
  • Proxy Processing: The web proxy then forwards this request to the web server to which the user is requesting access, masking the user's original address.
  • Response Delivery: The web server will respond to the proxy for the user and then the web proxy delivers that request back to the user's device, and the whole process conceals the user.

Types of Web Proxies

  • Explicit Proxy: This method has the client’s browser configured to send the request directly to the proxy server. Authentication can occur via Kerberos, SAML, or some other method.
  • Transparent Proxy: This proxy will intercept the request without any configuration on the part of the client. It runs in-line or via traffic steering and the user is oblivious to the fact.
