What is a Proxy?

A proxy server is a gateway that acts as an intermediary between private network users and the Internet. The server prevents cyber attackers from entering a private network because it acts as a barrier between end-users and web pages they visit online.

After connecting to the Internet, the system is assigned an IP address. This is similar to your home’s street address and allows data to be directed to the correct location. A proxy server is an IP address with its Internet presence and can be used as an intermediary between the system and the Internet.
