How to troubleshoot emulator errors?

There are several steps you can take to troubleshoot emulator errors while using Android Studio. Here are some common errors associated with Android emulators, along with their solutions.

  • To run the emulator, make sure your computer meets the minimum system requirements. The emulator checks for sufficient free disk space on startup and won't start unless at least 2 GB is available. If it fails to start, check whether you have adequate free disk space.

  • To resolve emulator issues with Avast software, disable Use nested virtualization when available and enable Hardware assisted virtualization in the Avast Troubleshooting settings. HAXM should also be reconfigured by reinstalling the latest HAXM from the SDK Manager.

  • Use HAXM (6.1.2) if you're running Android Emulator on older, unsupported macOS versions, such as 10.9.

  • When the emulator runs in a tool window, multi-touch gestures, including two-finger panning, do not work. To enable multi-touch, you need to launch the emulator in a separate window.

  • If the emulator fails to run due to the error vulkan-1.dll cannot be found, you need to update the emulator. To do this, open Android Studio, navigate to Tools > SDK Manager, and install the latest update.
