How to Setup a Proxy Server on Windows?

To set up a proxy server on Windows, follow these steps:

Automatic Configurations

• Click the Start Menu then selectSettings (gear icon).
• Select Network & Internet.
• Click on the Proxy option in the left-hand menu.
• With Automatic Proxy Setup, flip on Automatically detect settings.
• If you have a script address (for example given to you by your network administrator), flipUse Setup ScripttoOnand enter the script address in theScript AddressArea.
• Click Save to apply the settings.

Manual Proxy Configuration

• Open the Start Menu and go to Settings > Network & Internet > Proxy.
• Scroll down to the Manual Proxy Setup section.
• Toggle Use a Proxy Server to On.
• In the Address box, type in the IP address of your proxy server; and in thePort box, the port number.
• Check the box if your proxy server requires a password, then your username, and password.
• Click Save to apply the settings.

Note:

• Have administrative (admin) access to the Windows device.
• In case of not being very clear on the proxy details (IP, port, or script address), consult IT on one or the other.
• For advanced users, Proxy Settings can be configured through Command Prompt or PowerShell with specified commands.
