How to check the proxy firewall and DNS configuration?

To check your proxy firewall and DNS configuration, follow these steps::

  • To check whether the proxy server is running, you can use the netstat command. If the proxy server runs, you will see an entry for it in the output of the netstat command.
  • Secondly, you should check whether the DNS server is running. You can verify this by using the dig command. If it is running, you will see an entry for it in the output of this command.
  • Finally, you need to check the configuration of the proxy server and the DNS server. To do this, enter the telnet command.

For Chrome:

  • Open your Chrome browser.
  • Navigate to the three dots in the top-right corner.
  • From the drop-down menu, select Settings. You will be presented with the Chrome settings page.
  • Scroll down the settings page and click on Advanced Options.
  • Scroll further and click on the option Open Your Computer's Proxy Settings. This option will be under the System section.
  • Upon clicking this option, you will be presented with an Internet Properties dialog box
  • In this dialog box, head over to the Connections tab.
  • Click on the LAN Setting option.
  • Uncheck the Automatically detect settings and Use a proxy server for your LAN option under the Proxy Server section.
  • After unchecking them, Click OK to save, and you are good to go!
