As we know Selenium interacts with browsers and these get methods will retrieve info related to browsers only. As explained in other answers very clearly, screen resolution and browser are different. The simple example below shows very clearly that the web driver is getting only the browser's dimensions.

One of the differences between Katalon and groovy is that groovy is lightweight as compared to Katalon. Since Katalon offers variety of features in a container, it is easier to use. Scripting is very much encapsulated within it. Groovy on other had provides many features for testing - Do check out Spock (http://spockframework.org) which is mainly used for testing Java/Groovy applications.

In a nut shell; which should be chosen really depends on the team composition of programmers, tech stack on which your app is built, maintainability of the application in scope. Hope it helps...

For sure you can. We use Selenium a lot as an assistant in getting some datas from websites.

When you have a process involving multiple steps, including opening website, login, choosing 54 parameters and need only 1 human interaction (resolving a captcha, for example), Selenium can automate those boring tasks and let the user concentrate on the one which is important.

What we do here, is to make a Swing dialog with an input field to get what the user want to enter, then the actual form submission is performed by Selenium. You can do the same thing with links, and you can ask the user to select a link to click on, and perform the actual click with webdriver.

The ExplicitWait method of Amith is also a good one. You can focus on what you expect after the user has clicked, and wait until this condition is realized

Are you using a standalone server download?

If you download the selenium server package you'll get about 47 jars with it. I believe you need all of those jars in your classpath in order to execute. That package can be downloaded from here

Or the standalone package can be downloaded from http://code.google.com/p/selenium/downloads/detail?name=selenium-server-standalone-2.20.0.jar

If you're not using it right now, the easiest solution might be to switch to the standalone version; otherwise download the full server & add all the jars to your classpath.

This is not a Selenium issue, pressing enter in a text field often submits the form. Usually you can bypass it by using Shift+Enter to insert a new line. Try this:

I would use a custom condition to wait for the targeted element to become displayed and steady. The element could be considered steady if its position remains the same between two calls.

Go with PhantomJS but if running them in chromedriver is required and you have the resources, this blog has a good recipe on running headless selenium with chrome. Requiring you to download the following...

• VirtualBox
• Vagrant
• NodeJS

If you plan to implement Jenkins or any other CI in the future, I strongly suggest going with PhantomJS though.

One other way to launch chrome in incognito mode is to add argument "-incognito" like following:
