How to use JUnit to test asynchronous processes

Java 8: How do I work with exception throwing methods in streams?

Does JUnit 3 have something analogous to @Ignore

Mockito How to mock and assert a thrown exception?

How to test that no exception is thrown?

how to handle exceptions in junit

When using JUnit's @Parameterized, can I have some tests still run only once

JUNIT : run setup only once for a large number of test classes

Is Java's assertEquals method reliable?

Cannot process locations AND classes for context configuration

TL;DR; Unfortunately, there is no built-in solution yet (at time of writting, 2022), hence you are free to use and/or implement whatever fits your situation.

Example

An alternative is to use the CountDownLatch class.

public class DatabaseTest {

    /**
     * Data limit
     */
    private static final int DATA_LIMIT = 5;

    /**
     * Countdown latch
     */
    private CountDownLatch lock = new CountDownLatch(1);

    /**
     * Received data
     */
    private List<Data> receiveddata;

    @Test
    public void testDataRetrieval() throws Exception {
        Database db = new MockDatabaseImpl();
        db.getData(DATA_LIMIT, new DataCallback() {
            @Override
            public void onSuccess(List<Data> data) {
                receiveddata = data;
                lock.countDown();
            }
        });

        lock.await(2000, TimeUnit.MILLISECONDS);

        assertNotNull(receiveddata);
        assertEquals(DATA_LIMIT, receiveddata.size());
    }
}

NOTE you can't just used syncronized with a regular object as a lock, as fast callbacks can release the lock before the lock's wait method is called. See this blog post by Joe Walnes.

EDIT Removed syncronized blocks around CountDownLatch thanks to comments from @jtahlborn and @Ring

How To Create & Run A Job In Jenkins Using Jenkins Freestyle Project?

As per the official Jenkins wiki information, a Jenkins freestyle project is a typical build job or task. This may be as simple as building or packaging an application, running tests, building or sending a report, or even merely running few commands. Collating data for tests can also be done by Jenkins.

24 Testing Scenarios you should not automate with Selenium

While there is a huge demand and need to run Selenium Test Automation, the experts always suggest not to automate every possible test. Exhaustive Testing is not possible, and Automating everything is not sustainable.

The Most Detailed Selenium PHP Guide (With Examples)

The Selenium automation framework supports many programming languages such as Python, PHP, Perl, Java, C#, and Ruby. But if you are looking for a server-side programming language for automation testing, Selenium WebDriver with PHP is the ideal combination.

How To Set Up Continuous Integration With Git and Jenkins?

There are various CI/CD tools such as CircleCI, TeamCity, Bamboo, Jenkins, GitLab, Travis CI, GoCD, etc., that help companies streamline their development process and ensure high-quality applications. If we talk about the top CI/CD tools in the market, Jenkins is still one of the most popular, stable, and widely used open-source CI/CD tools for building and automating continuous integration, delivery, and deployment pipelines smoothly and effortlessly.
