How to use getTestNGInstrastructure method of org.testng.reporters.util.StackTraceTools class

We used dependency injection and Guice with Guice-berry to solve this problem. The page objects were injected to the test methods and WebDriver was injected to the page objects.

As a tradeoff we had not used all this nice little chaining between page objects.

But static state and singletons are pain in the ass when it comes to parallel test execution so they should be avoided.

In IDEA, Maven project tab, click on the Show dependencies button (it will show a diagram) , then press Ctrl+ F in that diagram and type httpcore and check the version. if it shows the version less than 4.4 , you can analyze how dependencies has been resolved. Based on that you can adjust the pom to rectify the dependencies. Since it is working with mvn in the command line, this might be a incorrect behavior of the that IDEA resolve maven dependencies through its maven plugin.

I do not believe that browseBtn.sendKeys(file.getAbsolutePath()); is going to work in this case as I am trying to do this on a Mac and there is no cursor for the Browse button.

There isn't a cursor in any platform for file input. That shouldn't keep you from using it. However, I'd suggest changing this:

To this

WebElement browseBtn = driver.findElement(By.id("fileField"));

to see if that fixes the issue.

This means that next problem is with loading from path /Users/vhaisl‌​salisc/Documents/VINCI_Test_documents/Test_ResReqMemo.pdf. That is not related in Selenium usage at all, and you need to fix the path/file/file permissions before continuing with the troubleshooting.

Try to change this

to this

You are trying to test the app not build it. Anyway, if you really want to build it and skip test, you should run

mvn clean install -DskipTest

The Truth authors recommend using JUnit 4.13/5's assertThrows() mechanism, since this doesn't really need support in Truth. This would look more like:

This is recommended over try/fail/catch as it is terser, avoids the "missing fail" problem, and returns an object that can be asserted-on using the ThrowableSubject in Truth.

If you do not have assertThrows(), then please use the try/fail/catch pattern, as this is clear and explicit.

While @Rule ExpectedException and @Test(exception=...) exist in JUnit, these aren't recommended by the Truth team, insofar as they have some subtle (and less subtle) ways you can write tests that pass but which should fail.

While this is also true of try/fail/catch, internally Google mitigates this with the use of error-prone, which provides a static compile-time check to ensure that this pattern doesn't omit the fail(), etc. It is highly recommended that you use error-prone or another static analysis check to catch these. Sadly, the rule-based and annotation-based methods aren't as easily amenable to static analysis as this try/catch block.

Try adding this line

As per Documentation,

public void afterPropertiesSet() throws IOException

Invoked by a BeanFactory after it has set all bean properties supplied (and satisfied BeanFactoryAware and ApplicationContextAware). This method allows the bean instance to perform initialization only possible when all bean properties have been set and to throw an exception in the event of misconfiguration.

In your case, I think you need to call it in your code manually.

Another way to handle expected exceptions in the TestNG framework is:

@Test(expectedExceptions = {NoSuchMethodException.class, SecurityException.class})

If the test annotated with this encounters any of the exceptions, it will be considered a pass.
