How to use beforeInvocation method of org.testng.SuiteRunner class

Citrus saves all variables to a common test context that is valid for the whole test case execution. You can inject the Citrus test context to your implementation as test method parameter:

Please notice that I have used the test runner instead of test designer. This is because the runner test actions are executed immediately so the test context changes are visible right after the action has performed.

In addition to that all test actions do have access to the test context, too. So you can just add a custom action via Java DSL and access the test context.

How do I add a junit 4 dependency correctly?

Assuming you're resolving against a standard Maven (or equivalent) repo:

dependencies {
    ...
    testCompile "junit:junit:4.11"  // Or whatever version
}

Run those tests in the folders of tests/model?

You define your test source set the same way:

sourceSets {
    ...

    test {
        java {
            srcDirs = ["test/model"]  // Note @Peter's comment below
        }
    }
}

Then invoke the tests as:

./gradlew test

You are sharing a single instance of the class under test across all tests. I'd remove the initial assignment and add this:

private GameOfStones gameOfStones; // Don't create an instance here

@BeforeMethod
public void setUp() {
    gameOfStones = new GameOfStones();
}

... which will use a new instance for each test. Good practice would also be to clean up after each test:

@AfterMethod
public void tearDown() {
    gameOfStones = null;
}

In the example given here, fixing the class scoped variable causing the problem to be method scoped instead would also fix the issue, but as the software under test gets more complex it's good to start doing proper test set up and tear down.

If you are using Maven then i would simply use the surefire plugin and run tests as part of the build:

Just specify the path to your testng.xml and take advantage of it if you can use this kind of configuration. It allows for tons of parametrization and i have used it extensively in my projects.

I believe you can achieve this if you modify a key after it is added to a HashMap.

However in your case it appears to be just a case of modifying the same map in two threads without proper synchronization. e.g. in thread A, map.put(key, 0), thread B map.put(key2, 0) can results in a size of 1 or 2. If you do the same with remove you can end up with a size larger than you should.

To set the JVM arguments in intelliJ, choose Run > Edit Configurations, and add this JVM argument in the VM options section after -ea (which would be there by default.

If the above does not work do at template level, this will fix it, which is

Run--> Edit configuration --> template --> testng

You can use the System.arraycopy method (yes, all lowercase). Javadoc. You can do more stuff with arrays using the java.util.Arrays class.

Read up on the @DataProvider annotation and how to use it in the TestNG documentation. It's what makes TestNG special. The data provider method will send as many rows of data to a test method as you want.

I just had this problem and I'm pretty confident that it's a bug in the TestNG Plugin for eclipse, since I was able to run my tests from the command line just fine.

The fix that seems to be working for me and others is just to clean your project (Project → Clean). One person had to re-install the whole plugin.
