How to use getResponseCodec method of org.openqa.selenium.remote.Enum Dialect class

You should use findElements to find the list of WebElements. See API doc here

findElement returns single WebElement whereas findElements is plural and should be the expected one in this case.

The error is because you have a period (.) in the class name, .config-category. The class name does not contain a period in the HTML. I think you are confusing this with CSS selectors where you preface the class name with a period.

You can write a single locator to find all the LIs that you are looking for using CSS selectors. You are looking for DIVs that contain the class name config-category which you can represent as div.config-category. Next you want descendants of that DIV that are LIs. Descendants are represented with a space and then you add li like, div.config-category li. The code below should work.

CSS selectors are extremely powerful locators and are widely supported and have very good performance, especially vs. XPath locators. I would suggest that you take some time to read up on them and learn the basics. You will find them extremely useful. Here are just a couple resources to get you started:

Injecting JavaScript to the web page or any other element is poor practice. You can find the Element using Selenium code and click on it without the use of any injection.

1. Wait for the page to be loaded

2. Find the button by CSS or Xpath expression

3. Wait for the element to by clickable

4. click on it using Selenium code only

scrollIntoView

The DOM method scrollIntoView only scrolls the element into view. If scrollIntoView cannot scroll the element into view, it will just fail silently.I added an invisible element to the start of body and called scrollIntoView on it. Nothing scrolled but there was no error. Note that you have more control on how the element is scrolled with scrollIntoView than with moveToElement. Selenium is only interested in bringing the element into view so that the mouse can be placed on it. It does not give you any say in how it is going to do it. scrollIntoView however allows you, for instance, to specify whether you want the top or bottom of the element to be align with its scrollable ancestor. moveToElement

The Selenium method moveToElement does two things: it scrolls the element into view and moves the mouse on top of the element. I've also tested it with elements that cannot be scrolled or moved to because they have no coordinates on screen and got no error here either.

Choosing One

I default to using moveToElement, with the following exceptions:

• If you do not want to affect at all where Selenium has placed the mouse but you want to scroll something into view (a bit strange... but possible), then you should use scrollIntoView.

• If you need to scroll an element with the kind of control that scrollIntoView gives you (like the alignment option I mentioned above), then you have to use it rather than moveToElement.

• There are cases where trying to simulate user behavior through Selenium's commands is not possible or is very expensive to do by sending a series of Selenium commands. (Each command is a round-trip to the network. When the testing server somewhere across the Internet, it adds up.) In such cases, I use Selenium's executeScript. In such case, it can be advantageous to use scrollIntoView in the script being executed, rather then end the script, create an Action to perform the scroll, and finish the whole operation with another executeScript.

Try element.getAttribute("value")

The text property is for text within the tags of an element. For input elements, the displayed text is not wrapped by the <input> tag, instead it's inside the value attribute.

Note: Case matters. If you specify "Value", you'll get a 'null' value back. This is true for C# at least.

The main problem is at this line:

driver.findElement(By.cssSelector("a:contains('About Google')"));

css doesn't maintain contains() for Selenium WD - See here.

For using contains() you have to use Xpath.

With Xpath your locator will be:

//a[contains(text(), 'About Google')]

and for driver it will be as:

driver.findElement(By.xpath("//a[contains(text(), 'About Google')]"));

For finding links with Selenium you can use:

driver.findElement(By.linkText("your link name here"));

It is limitation of CSS selectors compare to Xpath:

• you can't take parent element with CSS selectors (Xpath has XPath axes)
• you can't use contains (it is only XPath privilege).

You escape it with a backslash like so:

In Java, repeat the backslash to escape itself within the string:

"#form\\:panelGridTransactionInfo > div:nth-child(4) > div:nth-child(2) > div:nth-of-type(2) > div:nth-of-type(2)"

So, the problem was that the cursor gets stuck sometimes when you call the click() function. So as a solution I used the Robot class to move my cursor and click on the export button and then I used Robot class to press Alt+S, which is a keyboard shortcut to save a file in IE.

To click on the button I used
