How to use createDriver method of org.openqa.selenium.ie.InternetExplorerDriverInfo class

How about something like:

Element.scrollIntoView()

Element.scrollIntoView() method scrolls the element on which it's called into the Viewport of the browser window.

Syntax

• element.scrollIntoView()
• element.scrollIntoView(alignToTop) // Boolean parameter
• element.scrollIntoView(scrollIntoViewOptions) // Object parameter

Parameters

The parameters for this method are:

• alignToTop (Optional): Is a Boolean value, if true, the top of the element will be aligned to the top of the visible area of the scrollable ancestor. This is the default value. If false, the bottom of the element will be aligned to the bottom of the visible area of the scrollable ancestor. Corresponds to scrollIntoViewOptions: {block: "end", inline: "nearest"}.
• scrollIntoViewOptions (Optional): Is an Object with the following properties:
• behavior (Optional): Defines the transition animation. One of "auto" or "smooth". Defaults to "auto".
• block (Optional): Defines vertical alignment. One of "start", "center", "end", or "nearest". Defaults to "start".
• inline (Optional): Defines horizontal alignment. One of "start", "center", "end", or "nearest". Defaults to "nearest".

This usecase

As per your line of code:

((JavascriptExecutor) driver).executeScript("arguments[0].scrollIntoView(true);", element);

the argument true refers to boolean value for alignToTop. Hence the issue.

Solution

To automate horizontal scrolling you need to pass the argument for the inline parameter either among the following:

• start
• center
• end
• nearest

Alternative

As an alternative you can use either of the following options

• scrollLeft(): Element.scrollLeft() property gets or sets the number of pixels that an element's content is scrolled from its left edge. If the element's direction is rtl (right-to-left), then scrollLeft is 0 when the scrollbar is at its rightmost position (at the start of the scrolled content), and then increasingly negative as you scroll towards the end of the content.
• scrollWidth(): Element.scrollWidth() read-only property is a measurement of the width of an element's content, including content not visible on the screen due to overflow.

elementToBeClickable is used for checking an element is visible and enabled such that you can click it.

ExpectedConditions.elementToBeClickable returns WebElement if expected condition is true otherwise it will throw TimeoutException, It never returns null.

So if your using ExpectedConditions.elementToBeClickable to find an element which will always gives you the clickable element, so no need to check for null condition, you should try as below :-

element.click();

As you are saying element.click() passes both on link and label that's doesn't mean element is not clickable, it means returned element clicked but may be there is no event performs on element by click action.

Note:- I'm suggesting you always try first to find elements by id, name, className and other locator. if you faced some difficulty to find then use cssSelector and always give last priority to xpath locator because it is slower than other locator to locate an element.

If you are using Webdriver then the item you are looking for is Selected.

Often times in the render of the checkbox doesn't actually apply the attribute checked unless specified.

So what you would look for in Selenium Webdriver is this

isChecked = e.findElement(By.tagName("input")).Selected;

As there is no Selected in WebDriver Java API, the above code should be as follows:

isChecked = e.findElement(By.tagName("input")).isSelected();

set webdriver.chrome.driver instead of webdriver.chromedriver.driver

 System.setProperty("webdriver.chromedriver.driver",
           "C://Users//balwinder//Desktop//chromedriver.exe");

Should be:

System.setProperty("webdriver.chrome.driver",
           "C:\\Users\\balwinder\\Desktop\\chromedriver.exe");

OR

System.setProperty("webdriver.chrome.driver",
           "C:/Users/balwinder/Desktop/chromedriver.exe");

NOTE: it will work only if you are first setting the system property and then instantiating chrome driver..

First of all, I apologise because I had never worked on a grid before. I thought it will be a frame and will be easier to switch and then scroll to the element using JavascriptExecutor. But, alas! That's not the case for a grid.
And, there must be a table when a grid is involved.

Now, this is what has worked for me.

Note: Do not forget to give some sleep time after each scroll.

I have automated one sample grid, and have attached the sample working code below. Hope this helps in figuring out problem:

Note: This works correctly now. It will come out of the loop in case the element is found, or if not found after 250 scrolls. '250' is a relative number. You can change it to the number of scrolls you want to perform on the grid.

Java String(s) can't be done in single quotes. This,

By.cssSelector('[data-testing-id="data-id1"]')

Should be (escaping the double quotes),

By.cssSelector("[data-testing-id=\"data-id1\"]")

or with single quotes inside the double quotes, like

By.cssSelector("[data-testing-id='data-id1']")
