How to use getRoles method of org.openqa.selenium.grid.server.EventBusFlags class

Like you said since the xpath for the next button is the same on every page it won't work. It's working as coded in that it does wait for the element to be displayed but since it's already displayed then the implicit wait doesn't apply because it doesn't need to wait at all. Why don't you use the fact that the url changes since from your code it appears to change when the next button is clicked. I do C# but I guess in Java it would be something like:

For sure you can. We use Selenium a lot as an assistant in getting some datas from websites.

When you have a process involving multiple steps, including opening website, login, choosing 54 parameters and need only 1 human interaction (resolving a captcha, for example), Selenium can automate those boring tasks and let the user concentrate on the one which is important.

What we do here, is to make a Swing dialog with an input field to get what the user want to enter, then the actual form submission is performed by Selenium. You can do the same thing with links, and you can ask the user to select a link to click on, and perform the actual click with webdriver.

The ExplicitWait method of Amith is also a good one. You can focus on what you expect after the user has clicked, and wait until this condition is realized

In your first option selenium clearly saying Element should have been "select" but was "option", means here you are providing the xpath for option while expecting only xpath for select.

Don't need to use other option as you provided, Just use your first option as below :-

Sauce Labs On Demand has a great plugin for Jenkins (https://saucelabs.com/jenkins/5). Their approach is pretty simple: you check/uncheck what OSs and browsers you to test and Jenkins sets environment variables for your tests to pick up. Sauce Labs has some free plans, but if you don't want to use them, you should be able to switch out the last part that constructs the URL ("http://" + username + ":" + accessKey + "@ondemand.saucelabs.com:80/wd/hub") the actual server URL you want to point to ("http://mydomain.com").

The trick is basically to replace hard-coded browser/capability names with environment provided ones and then have your build runner (ant/maven/etc) set environment variables for each of the OS/browser combos you want to test and "loop" over those somehow. SauceLabs plugins just makes it easy to do the looping. You can still provide default fallback values in case you want to run a simple local test.

I found the work around as below

1. Open terminal
2. Navigate to path where your chromedriver file is located
3. Execute any one of the below commands

Command1: xattr -d com.apple.quarantine <name-of-executable>

Example

/usr/local/Caskroom/chromedriver 
$ xattr -d com.apple.quarantine chromedriver 

(or)

Command2: spctl --add --label 'Approved' <name-of-executable>

Note: This will work only with the file(s) where the above command is executed. If a new chromedriver is downloaded then the command has to be executed again on the newly downloaded file

Page Factory is a way to initialize the web elements you want to interact with within the page object when you create an instance of it.

Update: The textContent attribute is a better option and supported across the majority of browsers. The differences are explained in detail at this blog post: innerText vs. textContent

As an alternative, the innerText attribute will return the text content of an element which exists in the DOM.

element.getAttribute("innerText")

The isDisplayed() method can sometimes trip over when the element is not really hidden but outside the viewport; getText() returns an empty string for such an element.

You can also bring the element into the viewport by scrolling to it using javascript, as follows:

((JavaScriptExecutor)driver).executeScript("arguments[0].scrollIntoView(true);", element);

and then getText() should return the correct value.

Instead of doing this:

getDriver().findElement(By.xpath("//span[text()='"+auctionID+"']"));

I would try something like this:

By auctionList = By.xpath(".//span[contains(@id,'listOfAuctions')]"));
By containsTextWithId = By.xpath(".//span[contains(.,'" + id + "')]"));
By combinedLocator = new ByChained(auctionList, containsTextWithId);

Or some similar idea, depending on what you are doing.
