How to use copyModel method of org.openqa.selenium.firefox.FirefoxProfile class

There is a very good plugin that can be used with selenium project shadow-automation-selenium. It helps in writing much better, readable and maintainable code. Using this you can access multi level of shadow DOM (upto 4 levels ) . This uses simple css selector to identify elements.

WebElement findElement(String cssSelector) : use this method if want single element from DOM

You can use this code in your framework to grab the textarea element Object.

Not sure if this will help you but when I ran into this error message, I was able to get past it by having:

driver.switchTo().defaultContent();

driver.switchTo().frame(0);

between each interaction with an element in the iframe.

Example:

driver.switchTo().frame(0);
    myPage.selectElement(getCycleSummary());
    driver.switchTo().defaultContent();
    driver.switchTo().frame(0);
    myPage.selectDisplayedElement(this.getCycleBtn());

Without the driver switches I would receive the dead object error.

OK, I already found a solution using Xpath and following-sibling, it wasn't too complicated.

This gives me what I wanted, and throws a NoSuchElementException when it's not here, which is exactly what I want.

To set the JVM arguments in intelliJ, choose Run > Edit Configurations, and add this JVM argument in the VM options section after -ea (which would be there by default.

If the above does not work do at template level, this will fix it, which is

Run--> Edit configuration --> template --> testng

Element is not clickable at point (775.25, 10.166671752929688). Other element would receive the click:

It clearly says, the element we want to click is hidden by some other element div in this case, which would receive the click.

I think it is a problem with the UI and the header shouldn't hide the element, but you can try few things :

1. Maximize the window of the browser from webdriver to see if header still hides the element

   driver.manage().window().maximize() 
   

2. Use JavaScript to click element

   WebElement element = driver.findElement(By.<locator>);
   JavascriptExecutor executor = (JavascriptExecutor)driver;
   executor.executeScript("arguments[0].click()", element)`
   

Solution is to use proxy. Webdriver integrates very well with browsermob proxy: http://bmp.lightbody.net/
