isElementPresent() - This method basically tests if the element we are looking for is present somewhere on the page.

isVisible() - looks for display: none style tag - this might throw a null pointer if we aren't careful...thus to see if an element is visible first check if the element is present using isElementPresent() method. Then try checking if the element is visible!

Observe that isElementPresent() won't mind even if our element is not visible.

For ex: lets say the below is the html code for a component on my test application:

now if you test the above component with

selenium.isElementPresent("testinput") - returns true!
selenium.isVisible("testinput") - returns false!

You need to change the scope of rest-assured in your pom file because according to your current configuration that dependency is only available during the test phase.

Try changing it to

<scope>compile</scope>

It's not necessary to re-declare implicit wait time back to zero.

Reason: When you say that you want to use an explicit wait, it only means that your implicit wait time isn't enough to wait for the element to appear and so you declare an explicit wait after a particular action.

When Should you use an Implicit wait: Implicit wait is a way to tell selenium to wait for a particular period of time after executing each and every action. This helps in synchronisation of most actions that you perform. The longer time you give the slower your test executes. More about implicit wait

When Should you use an Explicit wait: Explicit wait is used when a particular action takes time to perform or load on to the DOM. This does not tell selenium to wait for a particular time after each and every action but instead tells selenium to wait for a period of time before executing a particular action only. More about explicit wait

WARNING from Selenium Website: Do not mix implicit and explicit waits. Doing so can cause unpredictable wait times. For example setting an implicit wait of 10s and an explicit wait of 15 seconds, could cause a timeout to occur after 20 seconds.

I think ngWebDriver is capable of handling the issues you are facing. The biggest problem of WebDriver2.0 is that it could not handle the asynchronous element calls and that's where the ngWebDriver comes into the picture and code new NgWebDriver(driver).waitForAngularRequestsToFinish(); will be there to fulfill your need.

Whereas, If you feel comfortable with the automation scripting on java script then the Protractor will be the only best choice. But, also you shall consider the other points like the IDE for java scripting Notepad or NP++ will not be the good option as it will not support the key senses and some best IDEs are paid too (like webstorm) whereas you can do some simple hacks and use eclipse as the Editor but before that you should also consider the scope of protractor as you can see that the rapid growth in java script frameworks. the client side JS frameworks are growing faster than ever. you'll have to consider your career perspective too as now days the ReactJS is growing faster than the angular JS and then again you'll have to switch on webdriver (while it depends on the project and it's requirement) in near future.

conclusion: better would be to go with ngWebDriver, give it a chance and see if it fullfils your requirement then stick with it as you have already designed the framework or else there is no other option than protractor.

As the exact answer for my own question "Selenium WebDriver get Current frame" I found the following way to do it.

JavascriptExecutor jsExecutor = (JavascriptExecutor)driver;
String currentFrame = jsExecutor.executeScript("return self.name");

But in here, the JavascriptExecutor execute the command every time to get the current frame. So if I consider the performance, I would like to choose #Saurabh Gaur's answer as the best answer . I hope my answer would be helpful to someone else :-)

I Just did a small test, with my current version, with a global variable and with the js command help.

[Time collected (ms) on perfoming actions in 4 different elements in 2 nested iframes 1000 times. (4000 find element actions in total) ]

Don't use meaningless XPath. Your error message tells you "NoSuchElement", so you had your locator wrong, which has nothing to do with getText (not yet). Try using CssSelector or meaningful XPath:
