How to use shouldVerifySingleMockInOrderAndNotInOrder method of org.mockitousage.verification.BasicVerificationInOrderTest class

Assuming the following method to test:

public boolean doSomething(SomeClass arg);

Mockito documentation says that you should not use captor in this way:

when(someObject.doSomething(argumentCaptor.capture())).thenReturn(true);
assertThat(argumentCaptor.getValue(), equalTo(expected));

Because you can just use matcher during stubbing:

when(someObject.doSomething(eq(expected))).thenReturn(true);

But verification is a different story. If your test needs to ensure that this method was called with a specific argument, use ArgumentCaptor and this is the case for which it is designed:

If you are using Jersey 2, one solution would be to use Custom Injection and Lifecycle Management feature (with HK2 - which comes with the Jersey dist). Also required would be a Mocking framework of course. I'm going to use Mockito.

First create a Factory with mocked instance:

Seems like a lot, but it's just an option. I'm not too familiar with the test framework, or if it has an mocking capabilities for injection.

So in most cases, you really don't need a Factory. You can simply bind the mock instance with its contract:

You could capture the value, e.g.

Or, perhaps, use an argument matcher which does the assertion:

Update:

Instead of using either of the methods above, you could use AdditionalMatchers.eq(double, double) instead, e.g.:

verify(myManager).method1(AdditionalMatchers.eq(expected, delta));

Although use AdditonalMatchers matchers wisely, as per the documentation:

AdditionalMatchers provides rarely used matchers, kept only for somewhat compatibility with EasyMock. Use additional matchers very judiciously because they may impact readability of a test. It is recommended to use matchers from Matchers and keep stubbing and verification simple.

The code you posted works for me with the latest version of Mockito and Powermockito. Maybe you haven't prepared A? Try this:

Did you annotate the test class with @RunWith(PowerMockRunner.class) and @PrepareForTest(CommandLineOptionProcessor.class)?

You need the @PrepareForTest(CommandLineOptionProcessor.class) at the test class level. See the Powermock doc:

Use the @PrepareForTest(ClassThatContainsStaticMethod.class) annotation at the class-level of the test case.

Also ensure that the required libraries are on the test classpath.

In your case the javassist library is missing. Put it on the classpath. Maybe some other libs are also missing... we will see.

If you get

java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Not a mock: java.lang.Class

then you are using EasyMock.replay(), but you must use PowerMock.replay()

Your brackets are in the wrong place, try this:

doNothing().when(mockRegistrationPeristImpl).create(any(Registration.class));

They both achieve the same result. Using an annotation (@Mock) is usually considered "cleaner", as you don't fill up your code with boilerplate assignments that all look the same.

Note that in order to use the @Mock annotation, your test class should be annotated with @RunWith(MockitoJUnitRunner.class) or contain a call to MockitoAnnotations.initMocks(this) in its @Before method.

TL;DR; Unfortunately, there is no built-in solution yet (at time of writting, 2022), hence you are free to use and/or implement whatever fits your situation.

Example

An alternative is to use the CountDownLatch class.

NOTE you can't just used syncronized with a regular object as a lock, as fast callbacks can release the lock before the lock's wait method is called. See this blog post by Joe Walnes.
