How to use compareToNull method of org.mockitousage.bugs.CompareMatcherTest class

JMockit can handle final and static. Just pay attention to how to set it up as it requires the -javaagent JVM parameter, or classpath tweaks, or extra annotations to be able to mock final and static stuffs.

To answer your second question first. If you're using JUnit 4, you can annotate your test with

@Test(expected=MyException.class)

to assert that an exception has occured. And to "mock" an exception with mockito, use

when(myMock.doSomething()).thenThrow(new MyException());

You should instantiante testRef as follows:

No need for the spy.

The alternative is to use the @Mock annotation since then Mockito can use type reflection to find the generic type:

Mockito comes with a helper class to save you some reflection boiler plate code:

Update: Unfortunately the mockito team decided to remove the class in Mockito 2. So you are back to writing your own reflection boilerplate code, use another library (e.g. Apache Commons Lang), or simply pilfer the Whitebox class (it is MIT licensed).

Update 2: JUnit 5 comes with its own ReflectionSupport and AnnotationSupport classes that might be useful and save you from pulling in yet another library.

At first you should check your test logic. Usually there are 3 cases. First, you are mocking the wrong method (you made a typo or someone changed tested code so that mocked method is no longer used). Second, your test is failing before this method is called. Third, your logic falls in wrong if/switch branch somewhere in the code so that mocked method is not called.

If this is the first case you always want to change the mocked method for the one used in the code. With the second and the third it depends. Usually you should just delete this mock if it has no use. But sometimes there are certain cases in parametrized tests, which should take this different path or fail earlier. Then you can split this test into two or more separate ones but that's not always good looking. 3 test methods with possibly 3 arguments providers can make your test look unreadable. In that case for JUnit 4 you silent this exception with either

@RunWith(MockitoJUnitRunner.Silent.class) 

annotation or if you are using rule approach

@Rule
public MockitoRule rule = MockitoJUnit.rule().strictness(Strictness.LENIENT);

or (the same behaviour)

@Rule
public MockitoRule rule = MockitoJUnit.rule().silent();

For JUnit 5 tests you can silence this exception using this annotation provided in mockito-junit-jupiter package:

A POST request normally passes its param in its body. So I cannot understand what you expect by giving both a param and a content for same request.

So here, you can simply do:

    mockMvc.perform(

If you need to pass the parameter "username=aricloud_admin", add it to the JSON string, or alternatively, pass it explicitly as a query string:

            .contentType(MediaType.APPLICATION_JSON).content(json))
            .andExpect(status().isOk());

Mockito 1.8.1 introduced anyVararg() matcher:

when(a.b(anyInt(), anyInt(), Matchers.<String>anyVararg())).thenReturn(b);

You simply inject it with the @Context annotation, as a field or method parameter.

Other than your resource classes, it can also be injected into other providers, like ContainerRequestContext, ContextResolver, MessageBodyReader etc.

Actually I want to write a junit test for a function similar to your doSomthing() function.

I didn't pick that up in your post. But a couple options I can think of for unit tests

1. Simply create a stub, implementing only the methods you use.

2. Use a Mocking framework like Mockito, and mock the UriInfo. Example

If you want to do an integration test, where the actual UriInfo is injected, you should look into Jersey Test Framework

Here's a complete example with the Jersey Test Framework

Just add this dependency

It uses an in-memory container, which is the most efficient for small tests. There are other containers with Servlet support if needed. Just see the link I posted above.
