Development practices are constantly changing and as testers, we need to embrace change. One of the changes that we can experience is the move from monthly or quarterly releases to continuous delivery or continuous deployment. This move to continuous delivery or deployment offers testers the chance to learn new skills.

As part of one of my consulting efforts, I worked with a mid-sized company that was looking to move toward a more agile manner of developing software. As with any shift in work style, there is some bewilderment and, for some, considerable anxiety. People are being challenged to leave their comfort zones and embrace a continuously changing, dynamic working environment. And, dare I say it, testing may be the most ‘disturbed’ of the software roles in agile development.

The web paradigm has changed considerably over the last few years. Web 2.0, a term coined way back in 1999, was one of the pivotal moments in the history of the Internet. UGC (User Generated Content), ease of use, and interoperability for the end-users were the key pillars of Web 2.0. Consumers who were only consuming content up till now started creating different forms of content (e.g., text, audio, video, etc.).

Ever since the Internet was invented, web developers have searched for the most efficient ways to display content on web browsers.

The purpose of developing test cases is to ensure the application functions as expected for the customer. Test cases provide basic application documentation for every function, feature, and integrated connection. Test case development often detects defects in the design or missing requirements early in the development process. Additionally, well-written test cases provide internal documentation for all application processing. Test case development is an important part of determining software quality and keeping defects away from customers.
