How to use ReflectionEquals class of org.mockito.internal.matchers.apachecommons package

Following Francisco González's answer, this is what I had to do :

the easiest way is this:

But a single method in a unit test should verify a single expectation about the codes behavior. Therefore the better way is to writ two separate test methods.

The alternative is to use the @Mock annotation since then Mockito can use type reflection to find the generic type:

Right or wrong, I was able to get this to properly do the JsonSerialization/JsonDeserialization by modifying the original Address POJO with the following changes. Added the following imports:

import com.fasterxml.jackson.datatype.jsr310.ser.LocalDateTimeSerializer;

Added the following annotations:

@JsonSerialize(using = LocalDateTimeSerializer.class)
@JsonDeserialize(using = LocalDateTimeDeserializer.class)
private LocalDateTime created;

@Mock
JdbcTemplate jdbctemplate;

@Test
public void testRun(){
when(jdbctemplate.queryForObject(anyString(),eq(String.class),anyObject()).thenReturn("data");
}

Updating Plugin to version 0.13.3 fixes this issue.

I've just finished comparing three BDD frameworks for Java. Obviously my findings have a fairly short use-by date.

Concordion

• Very flexible
• Very pretty report output
• Nice plugin framework
• Poorly documented. I had to read the source to figure it out (luckily its extremely good quality).
• Fixtures seemed likely to end up tightly coupled to the html.

EasyB

• Very shallow learning curve (even for non-Groovy Developers)
• Extremely powerful DBUnit integration
• Apparently no support for parameters (leads to either very vague stories or duplication between text and code (edit: actually there is but the documentation for it was very well hidden.)
• Story and Code are very tightly coupled (same file)
• Very basic report output
• Couldn't get IntelliJ plugin to work
• Inactive community (Maven plugin seems to have been broken for three months - not many code examples to draw on)

JBehave

• Extremely powerful and flexible (eg reduction of boiler-plate through composition of stories as pre-requisites)
• Extensive (if fragmented) documentation and examples
• Extensive (if overwhelming) support for different frameworks and environments
• Excellent separation of story files from code
• Looks to have a pretty active community and much more examples and discussion of it on web.
• Quite a steep learning curve (took me 3-4 times longer to figure out than Concordion/EasyB)

I didn't have the chance to try out Cuke4Duke of JDave as I would have liked, but will probably push for JBehave at this time.

I recommend using Mockito's Hamcrest integration to write a good, clean matcher for it. That allows you to combine the verification with detailed checking of the passed argument:

Matchers generally lead to more readable tests and more useful test failure messages. They also tend to be very reusable, and you'll find yourself building up a library of them tailored for testing your project. Finally, you can also use them for normal test assertions using JUnit's Assert.assertThat(), so you get double use out of them.

Remove junit and mockito dependencies spring-boot-starter-test will provide the rights versions of these dependencies.

spring-boot-starter-test will add junit:4.12 and mockito:2.2.29
